Appraisals
Ms. Fendelman brings objectivity to her clients that auction houses, galleries, and antiques dealers may not be able to provide because she has no vested interest in the valuation of your personal property. No matter whether you need a Fair Market Appraisal (a realistic resale value for estate tax purposes, pre-estate planning, equitable distribution or tax-deductible donations) or a Replacement Value Appraisal (for insurance coverage based on retail replacement value), your pieces are thoroughly researched and documented.
A Note about the Appraisers Association of America (AAA) - Over the years, the appraisal profession has adapted to the fast-paced developments within the arts, legal, and financial communities as well as to the changing needs of private and corporate collectors. Experience
Ms. Fendelman is a certified member and past President of the Appraisers Association of America, Inc. -- the oldest non-profit professional association of personal property appraisers. She has served as a curator for exhibits at the American Folk Art Museum, co-hosted the popular PBS television program, “Treasures in Your Attic,” and has written numerous books on antiques and collecting. In addition, Ms. Fendelman is a longtime contributor to Country Living Magazine with her column, “What is it? What is it Worth?” She is also an instructor at New York University’s Appraisal Institute.
Ms. Fendelman brings her clients decades of hands-on experience buying, selling, and appraising antiques and fine art. Her “What is it Worth?” magazine and newspaper columns, as well as guest appraisal events at antiques shows across the country, continuously add to the depth and breadth of her knowledge about a range of pieces – from the 17th through 20th centuries.
Publications & Books
In addition to her column in Country Living Magazine, Ms. Fendelman has co-authored the Scripps Howard Syndicated newspaper column, “Treasures in Your Attic,” since 1997.
Ms. Fendelman's publications include All About Appraising: The Definitive Appraisal Handbook; Price it Yourself, Treasures In Your Attic; Tramp Art A Folk Art Phenomenon; Silent Companions; Dummy Board Figures of the 17th Through 19th Centuries, and The Official Identificaion and Price Guides to American Folk Art and Holiday Collectibles. She has also served as a curator, a consultant and lecturer for museums and private organizations throughout the United States.
